Description
LOS is located on the Scottish coast near to a bird/wildlife conservation area and has been assessed as being one of the top ten birdstrike risk airfields in the UK due to a combination of environmental and geographic factors. A BDS is required to provide mitigation against a birdstrike for military aircraft operating from LOS, as well as the numerous visiting and detached aircraft. The current service is delivered through contract 702058450 - Bird Detection System (BDS) at RAF Lossiemouth. A relet is required in order to continue this essential service, with no capability gap.
