Description

Abergele Town Council is working with Conwy County Borough Council to repair the Viewing Platform in Pentre Mawr Park. Scope: To repair the viewing platform in Pentre Mawr Park which is requiring repair and maintenance due to the asset being over 10 years old The aim of the work is to ensure that the platform is fit for purpose and safe for public use: • Removal of rotten wood and structural repairs to the joists, posts, decking etc • Replace any missing sections of the platform • Safety upgrades to the railings; • Surface preparation and treatment • Adhering to safety protocols and environmental factors An initial site survey and inspection will need to be carried out to determine the extent of the work required The viewing platform was installed in c2010 from a grant provided to a local Friends group and is under the ownership of Conwy County Borough Council. This repair and maintenance work is to be commissioned by Abergele Town Council. Contractors will need to ensure that they meet with the Health & Safety requirements of both Councils. The contractor must determine if there is a need for scaffolding or other equipment and build this into the cost provided. The contractor is responsible for ensuring that all waste is removed from site following completion of the work The contractor will need to ensure that the area is safe to ensure no risk to the general public using the park. Please indicate the length of time that the work will take, and also when the work is likely to commence if your quotation is successful. An Officer from the County Council will have the final signoff on the completion of the work Awarding of the contract The awarding of contracts is made by members at a full town council meeting which are generally held on the third Thursday of the month. Following the meeting, companies who took part in the quoting process will be informed whether they were successful or not. *The awarding of the contract is subject to the conditions being adhered to. Failure to comply could lead to the contract to be offered to a competitor. Terms and conditions The contractor must supply any outstanding documents (such as risk assessment, method statement, insurance certificate, certificates of competency/required licences) within 14 days of the contract being awarded. Abergele Town Council reserves the right to cancel a contract if there is failure from the contractor to complete the work within a reasonable timeframe surrounding the completion date. Costs All costs, expenses and liabilities incurred by Contractors in connection with the preparation and submission of any quotation shall be borne by them.
