Description
As part of its broad policy portfolio, the DfE delivers Government policy for children's services and education, including higher and further education policy, apprenticeships and wider skills in England. This includes responsibility for policy relating to teachers and teaching including the supply of high quality teachers, teacher training and the regulation of teacher conduct. Section 141A-E of the Education Act 2002 (the "Act") gives the Secretary of State for Education the powers to investigate alleged cases of teacher misconduct. The Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) is an executive agency of the DfE and acts on behalf of the Secretary of State to consider allegations of teacher misconduct. The regulatory system (the "System") for teachers is set out in the Teachers' Disciplinary Regulations (England) 2012 (the "Regulations") and is operated on behalf of the Secretary of State by the DFE. This contract relates to the provision of legal adviser services to an independent Professional Conduct Panel.
