Description

Re‑procurement of services to support approximately 15 continuous air quality monitoring sites that together form a national monitoring network, providing a clear and robust picture of air pollution across the network. The monitoring network is used to inform our programme of activity to improve air quality, manage risk associated with exceeding limit values and continue to improve our understanding of the characteristics of the SRN as a source of air pollution, including the trends in NO2 and PM2.5 concentrations The monitoring programme primarily measures nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) and particulate matter (PM) concentrations. When the National Air Quality Monitoring Network (NAQMN) was first established, there were widespread exceedances of NO₂ across the network. Over the past five years, these levels have reduced significantly. Particulate matter monitoring was introduced more recently in response to new PM2.5 target legislation, strengthening the scope and relevance of the network. This procurement is for the ongoing support of the existing monitoring equipment, including calibration, maintenance, data integrity checks, and technical support, over a five‑year contract period.
