Description
This specialist service provides support for children and young people to prevent problematic substance misuse. For those that become dependent, the aim will be to become drug/alcohol free. This service provides interventions up to an individual's 18th birthday and manages transitions to other services. The key aim of this service is not to replace the need for case management by other agencies who are already working with these young people on other issues but to build on existing support with specialist drugs and alcohol expertise. Support should be integrated and collaborative with wider children's services to engage young people early, minimising risk and harm as well as enabling a whole family focus where appropriate to ensure that there is a long-term sustainable change achieved.
