ENFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL HISTORY EVENT / CONFERENCE 2020TARGET AUDIENCE: History Subject Leaders and interested Teachers in all Primary, Infant and Junior Schools COURSE OUTLINE AND PURPOSE: To support the Primary History Curriculum. Offer colleagues the opportunity to engage in professional dialogue, develop a deeper understanding and share good practice around meeting common challenges. KEY OBJECTIVES By the end of the day we will have looked at each of the following aspects of teaching and learning in history: • The current context - History in primary schools • How to meet the challenge of the new Ofsted framework and its implications for history in primary schools • The constituent parts of a great history curriculum from the EYFS to Year 6, including: o What pupils should be able to know, do and understand in history by the end of each key stage o What does secondary ready look like. • How do we develop great writing in history? • The characteristics of highly effective teaching and learning - how can we be creative and how do we inspire? • How to be a highly effective subject leader - some timely prompts • How do we ensure inspiring history in a time of change? An additional outcome: To introduce a new Network for Primary History.
