Nuclear Innovation and Research Office

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) seeks to award a new three- year contract to the National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) Ltd to deliver the Nuclear Innovation and Research Office - starting on 1 April 2020 and running to 31 March 2023, with the option of extending . The contract includes: providing Government with impartial technical advice on a range of nuclear policy, programmes and strategic issues; programme support to the BEIS Nuclear Innovation Programme; representing Government in certain international fora; and acting as a Secretariat for the Nuclear Innovation and Research Advisory Board (NIRAB). The advisory function NIRO will be separated from NNL's commercial business by a series of ethical barriers.
