Description
On 5th March 2025, the FSA published new best practice guidance on the provision of allergen information for non-prepacked foods. This guidance applies in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It sets out best practice for food businesses supplying non prepacked foods, around how they can provide mandatory allergen information to consumers. An evaluation is required to determine whether the guidance has been effective in addressing known issues with allergen information provision in the non-prepacked sector. As well as assessing the impact of the guidance, evidence from the evaluation will be used to support an assessment of future legislative options. To support this evaluation, the FSA wishes to commission a follow up survey of consumers with food hypersensitivities (FHS), to assess any impacts of the guidance. This follows a baseline survey with consumers prior to guidance publication, and parallel work with food businesses. The baseline findings and a summary of the FSA’s previous research in this area.
