Description
Background Greater Cambridge Shared Waste Service (GCSWS) is a partnership between South Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridge City Council, delivering waste collection services across the Greater Cambridge area. In 2026, GCSWS is rolling out weekly food waste collections to approximately 140,000 households, significantly expanding operations. As a result, additional staff are required to support increased service demand. Although recruitment is underway and some new rounds are operational, workforce turnover (including retirements) means that an additional 20 HGV drivers are urgently required to meet the demand of 70 drivers across all services. Campaign Objective To recruit qualified HGV drivers (and crew members) by delivering a targeted, high-impact campaign that: • Generates high-quality applications from licensed HGV drivers • Positions GCSWS as an employer of choice in the region • Builds awareness of the benefits of working for a public service provider
