Provision of independent technical verification of Harwell's liquid effluent treatment plant (LETP)

Over the next several years a number of DFW sites require delicensing as a consequence of a reduction in radiological hazard and risk. Harwell's Effluent Treatment Plant (LETP), which is due to be demolished and the land delicensed. ONR supports delicensing proposals as part of its enabling regulatory approach. Delicensing and site remediation meet the UK Government's priority of delivering safe and secure nuclear decommissioning. In order to delicense a nuclear site, ONR procedures require an independent organisation to undertake confirmation sampling and surveys of the areas to be delicensed on its behalf.
