Description
Following on from the recently completed Principal Inspection of the Gantries on the Tamar Bridge, which is required to occur every 6 years, and partly as a result of that exercise, there is now a requirement to appoint a suitably accredited and experienced Contractor, to undertake regular scheduled maintenance and routine inspection of the Gantries, over the intervening 5 year period, leading up to the next scheduled Principal inspection. The purpose of the contract is to carry out routine inspections and servicing of the electrical and mechanical installations on the four Tamar Bridge maintenance gantries, along with the two material hoists housed within the main towers along with the provision of reports and records of inspections of the work carried out. Inspection and servicing is to be carried out in accordance with the Specification, as contained within Contract Data Volume 3 and the Gantry Maintenance Manual, at quarterly, half yearly and annual intervals. There are four maintenance gantries, which are under the main deck and cantilevers of the Bridge and were installed in 1998 and 2001. The gantries traverse along rails suspended from the underside of the Tamar Bridge. As a key part of this procurement process, any prospective tenderer will, at their own cost and risk, be expected to attend, or at least be represented at, the designated Provider Information Event to be held at the Bridge Office which is scheduled for 1pm on Wednesday 21st February, 2018. Attendance is strongly advised but not mandatory and any contractors unable to be in attendance will, along with those who were, be provided in writing with any information or questions raised and answers given on the day, to ensure all parties have the same information to base their tender submissions upon and avoid any future confusion or misunderstandings concerning the specification and scope of requirements etc. One of the purposes of this meeting will be to provide Contractors with a copy of the Principal Inspection Report and electronic copies of drawings and schematics of the Gantries themselves to assist in complying with the established Maintenance procedures. Contractors will be permitted to access the gantries under supervision wearing either their own or suitable PPE to be provided on site and are requested to use the Portal Messaging system to confirm their attendance and the names and job titles of those anticipated to be in attendance. The main meeting point contact and address for assembly will be as follows: Mike Shillaber Senior Procurement Specialist On behalf of Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry Joint Committee Tamar Bridge Office Pemros Road St Budeaux Plymouth PL5 1LP ONLY if you are unable to attend at the last minute or unavoidably detained please advise Mike via either of the following means, Mobile: Mobile: 07973 497016, Email: mshillaber@cornwall.gov.uk Tender queries must only be raised via the Portal messaging system.
