VERIFICATION OF SPECIES AND ORIGIN OF TIMBER AND TIMBER BASED PRODUCTS THROUGH ANATOMIC AND ISOTOPIC ANALYSIS FOR THE PURPOSE OF ASSESSMENT OF CONFORMANCE WITH THE EUROPEAN UNION TIMBER REGULATION

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills Regulatory Delivery Directorate (formerly the National Measurement and Regulation Office) has a requirement for the testing of a selection of timber products to verify compliance with the EU Timber Regulation within the UK. Testing may be used as part of a criminal investigation. Therefore the supplier must confirm that they can fulfil the evidential traceability requirements laid out in ISO 17025 for supplying evidence that may be used as part of a prosecution.
