Description
The University of Southampton intends to acquire a CNC Milling machine that fits into a small versatile manufacturing centre within the department of Electronics and Computer science. This manufacturing centre supports, • Zepler institute and all subsidiary's • TDHVL (Tony Davis High voltage Lab) • Electronics and computer science • Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences The CNC Milling Machine will be integrated into the current facility at the University, located within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences building 59 on the Highfield Campus. The CNC Milling Machine is to replace an old failing CNC mill in the Mechanical Workshop. It must maintain/expand the versatility and breadth of machining capabilities and provide repeatable precision in recreating multiple copies of bespoke components as well as store the programme for future use. This is a small manufacturing centre for one off bespoke research parts, with a requirement of small batch work in Stainless steel, Aluminium and Plastics for research and teaching within the department.
