Retail & Leisure Planning Application Audits

Sheffield is England's third largest metropolitan authority with a population of 569,000 (mid-2018 estimate). Hillsborough is the city's second largest district centre located 3 miles north west of the City Centre. Two applications are currently under consideration that may affect the viability/vitality and investment in Hillsborough District Centre and/or other nearby local centres. The first application, submitted in July 2018, is for the erection of a Class A1 retail foodstore (18/02802/FUL) for which Lidl are committed to. It is located on Stannington Road close to its junction with Holme Lane. The second (19/00037/FUL), submitted in January 2019, is for 3no. Class A1 units, 2no. drive thru restaurants and other uses located between Penistone Road and Herries Road. Both applications are within half a mile of Hillsborough District Centre in opposite directions. Both applications can be viewed on the Council's online portal .
