Description

EKFB seek EOI's from interested parties to provide two sets of Continuous Surface Wave (CSW) Testing equipment and associated staff to carry out testing to determine the Rayleigh Wave / Shear Wave velocity of compacted earthworks materials to support the delivery of our C23 HS2 project. The 5 areas for delivery are North Chilterns Area (NCA), Aylesbury Area (AA), Calvert Area (CA), Twyford to Greatworth (T2G) and Greatworth to Southam (G2S). The service will also require the associated test report as detailed below: The report from each test location will include: 1. Graphical output for all recorded data (i.e. all field data over the full recorded frequency range). This shall be overlaid with a single interpreted dispersion curve of Vr against frequency comprising a best fit profile through the point data generated from each individual test at a test location. Point data for the picked experimental dispersion curve shall be reported at a maximum interval of 1Hz between 10Hz-50Hz. 2. Tabulated data with the minimum Rayleigh wave velocity in the range 10-50 Hz based on the interpreted experimental dispersion curve and corresponding critical frequency for each test. The reported result for a test location shall be taken as the average of these two components from all tests carried out at each test location. 3. Identification of the relevant seismic source, geophones and shot locations used to compile the dispersion. 4. A summary of the details of each test undertaken and comments on data quality/difficulties encountered in the data acquisition and processing and suitability of the test results for use. EKFB is proud to have been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. Our scope of the works includes 15 viaducts, 6.9km of green tunnels, 22km of road diversions, 81 bridges and around 30 million cubic metres of excavation.
