Description
The Reviving Exmoor's Heartlands (REH) project is a round 2 Landscape Recovery project that has been approved for a two year development phase, starting in April 2024. \r \r The project aims to restore Exmoor's central moorlands to a thriving ecological state with good habitat connectivity to the wider landscape, supported by viable farming. The project area spans approximately 12,000 hectares made up of a cluster of over 20 upland farms and moorland landholdings including large areas of common land, supporting mainly extensive cattle and sheep rearing. \r \r A specialist contractor is required to provide a baseline assessment of carbon storage and greenhouse gas emissions in the project area, and to estimate potential carbon credits from proposed restoration works and land management/land use changes (e.g. woodland creation). Essentially, we need a baseline of what carbon is currently being emitted / stored / sequestered, and then what the carbon benefit of different land management would be, that can potentially be used to reduce or offset emissions, or to sell as carbon credits. \r \r The successful contractor will work closely with the Reviving Exmoor's Heartlands team and provide monthly progress reports to the Project Manager. It is expected that the contractor will have regular contact with the Project Manager and have additional support from other ENPA teams as needed to build on knowledge as and when required. There will be an initial set up meeting and two or more project meetings with Exmoor National Park Authority and the REH steering group. \r
