Description
The Royal Borough of Greenwich (the “Council”) is seeking to award a contract for street lighting maintenance,repair and new works with the Royal Borough and within the public highway, parks and housing estates (the“Term Contract for Street Lighting Works 2016-19” (“the Contract”). The Council invites Bids from suitably qualified and experienced economic operators to provide all works contained with the Contract. The initial Contract Period is for a period of three years although the Council reserves the right to extend the Contract on the same terms for a further period or periods of up to two twelve month extensions making a total possible Contract Period of five years. The anticipated commencement date for the contract is 1 September 2016. The Contract includes, but is not limited to, street lighting and electrical highway works (and within parks and housing estates) in the Royal Borough of Greenwich including: Maintenance, improvement and repair to: Street Lighting and associated equipment Illuminated signs Non-illuminated traffic signs Electrical connections, disconnections and transfers Works to other electrified highway assets Works within the public highway, housing estates, parks and other public spaces Emergency response and call-out service Associated civil engineering work The scope of the works under the Contract includes labour, plant and materials necessary to carry out the requirements of the Contract. The scope of the contract is for highway assets but will also include assets held by other council departments, particularly in parks and open spaces and housing estates. The conditions of contract for this Contract will be the New Engineering Contract (NEC) Term Service version which is available for purchase. The specifications shall be generally based on the Specification for Highway Works Volume 1 published by the Department of Transport (amended to suit local circumstances). Workforce-related information: The Royal Borough of Greenwich's view is that the provisions of the UK's Transfer of Undertaking (Protection of Employment) Regulations (referred to as TUPE) apply. Those economic operators tendering will therefore need to demonstrate to the Contracting Authority that their bid complies with the TUPE Regulations.
