Description
The Family Autism Information Advice and Guidance Service is not a statutory service. Statutory requirements of the Council in part addressed by this specification includes but is not limited to, the Child Poverty Act, Children Act, 1989, 2004 and 2006, Children and Families Bill, Localism Act 2011 (The Right to Challenge), Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 and the Equality Act 2010. The Local Authority must consider if a young person is a child in need or at risk of harm under the 1989 Children Act and 2004 Children Act and it has a duty to provide a range of services to support them to ensure safety and a reasonable standard of health and development. The Provider shall take account of Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child; Article 10 of the Human Rights Act 1998 and the Children's Act 1989 - requiring local authorities to ascertain the 'wishes and feelings' of children and give due consideration (with regard to the child's age and understanding) to these when determining what services to provide, or what action to take.
