Description
Social Care in Prison – Market Testing 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background The introduction of the Care Act 2014 meant that from April 2015 local authorities in England became responsible for the assessment and meeting the eligible care and support needs for prisoners located in their area. Hampshire County Council is currently responsible for prisoners within HMP and YOI Winchester but could also include Haslar in Gosport once the intention for this prison has been announced. 1.2 Why we are doing it The soft market testing is being undertaken as an information gathering exercise and to identify potential third party interest in supporting, running or managing either the entirety or aspects of a social care in prison service. The Authority will consider the outcome of this consultation and, if applicable, may commence a formal procurement process at a later stage. 2. INTERESTED?
