Historic Environment Record (HER) soil survey risk assessment

PLEASE NOTE: approach to market date and contract start date subject to change based on responses received from expression of interest form. The requirement is to assess HER data against proposed soil survey methodology with a view to producing a risk assessment that will guide and provide advice to surveyors when planning and carrying out soil surveys. 1000 monads to be assessed for risk. Survey season 2024: - Receive EES shapefiles for 1000 monads (up to 6 1ha squares within each monad) from Natural England. - Source HER data (GI and/or gazetteer) from relevant HERs and Local Authorities and create a single dataset for the assessment. - Organise and rationalise the HER datasets (GIS shapefiles). - Assess 1000 monads (and related squares) and assign a risk level for impact from the proposed soil sampling methodology. - Provide Natural England with a final spreadsheet document identifying monads, squares, risk level, derogation (if required) and any relevant comments. This information will support survey scheduling for 2024.
