Description
Overview St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is in the market for the provision of an electronic rostering system for the management of medical staff rotas. The Trust completed the implementation of an electronic rostering, system for staff in early 2015 with the exception of doctors and dentists. A separate module was included in the package, to roster medical and dental staff and book bank/agency doctors but the Trusts identified technical challenges, resulting in the need for significant project and administrative support. The decision to implement rostering for medical and dental staff was therefore terminated. Requirement The Trust plans to transition medical and dental staff onto a new electronic rostering system designed specifically for medics from 1 November 2016. The overall aim of the Service will be to improve the management of clinical staff rotas. More specifically, to: a. Improve and standardise the rostering system for 1,500+ doctors (consultants and junior doctors) across 40 Care Groups at the Trust b. Enable improved planning of sessions in advance and forecast staffing requirement thereby reducing reliance on agency or locum staff c. Reduce the administrative burden on doctors of managing the rota, freeing up time for direct care d. Enhance the transparency of the rota and fairer allocation of shifts e. Assist with incidence planning ensuring the adequate coverage during periods of high activity.
