Description
City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council is looking to appoint a supplier to deliver Air Quality Monitoring Service including maintenance, and servicing of equipment.
City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council (the Council) covers an area of approximately 141 square miles. This includes Bradford city centre, the towns of Shipley, Bingley, Keighley and Ilkley and many other communities including Addingham, Baildon, Burley, Cullingworth, Denholme, Eastburn, Eccleshill, Haworth, Menston, Oxenhope, Queensbury, Silsden, Steeton and Thornton. The total population of the district the Council serves is approximately 546,400 (2021 Census).
Improving local air quality is a high priority for the Council. To date local interventions have focused mainly on reducing vehicle emissions with an emphasis on reducing nitrogen dioxide (NO2) concentrations. A Class C CAZ was introduced in September 2022 covering the Bradford outer ring road and the area within it. It also extends out along the Aire valley corridor, (Manningham Lane/Bradford Road and Canal Road area) to include Shipley and Saltaire.
