Description
The South Downs Way National Trail is a 100 mile long-distance path that spans the entire length of the South Downs National Park. It is a mainly off-road route that is comprised of public rights of way and is well used by walkers, cyclists, and equestrians all-year round. We have identified a section of path that has deteriorated from heavy use and surface water erosion. This section requires repair and drainage improvements to maintain the high standard of access along the National Trail. This section of Trail has public bridleway status yet also serves private vehicular access for several residents and for agricultural operations. A feasibility study for a sustainable draininge solution that will integrate with our proposed surface repairs is required, in order to undertake consultation with stakeholders prior to implementation.
