Description

The University currently owns and operates two Thermo Fisher Scientific X-ray Photoelectron Spectrometers: K-Alpha and Theta Probe. These two instruments currently run on pre-Windows 10 computers, having not been upgraded since purchase. For each instrument we require: i) Data system upgrade ii) USB3 Camera upgrade The system upgrade must be compatible with the existing instruments' features: K-Alpha: • 180° hemispherical analyser • 128-channel detector • scanned and snapshot spectroscopy modes • dual-beam charge neutralisation • monoatomic Ar ion and Polyatomic Gas-Cluster Ion Beam (GCIB) source • cluster sizes of 1000 and 2000 atoms • depth profiling of metals and oxides as well as polymers and multi-layers Theta Probe: • 180° spherical sector analyser • 60° Parallel ARXPS (no need to tilt the sample) • scanned and snapshot spectroscopy modes • dual-beam charge neutralisation • monoatomic Ar ion and Polyatomic Gas-Cluster Ion Beam (GCIB) source • cluster sizes of 1000 and 2000 atoms • depth profiling of metals and oxides as well as polymers and multi-layers • possibility to be linked with Raman spectrometer, for in situ measurements of XPS with Raman This purchase is being funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Please review the available documentation and provide a fully detailed response to our requirements.
