Description
PRICE (Protecting Rights in a Caring Environment) is the model of behaviour management training that the Children's Homes Service would like to re-introduce. The programme places a significant focus upon preventative strategies as well as the de-escalation and defusing elements of supporting behaviour whilst recognising it is sometimes necessary to use physical intervention to hold a service user to protect their wellbeing and the welfare of others. The model offers staff a 'toolbox' of skills and strategies to better deal with the everyday occurring situations that can escalate and develop into conflict, without compromising the ultimate welfare and safety of the service user or staff member. A "train the trainer" model is used by PRICE. Trainers within Durham County Council who are competent and capable users of PRICE techniques are trained and provided with annual refresher training by PRICE so they can train others. This contract should allow for both initial and refresher
