Description

To build on the achievements of the current healthy eating programme that has supported schools to create a 'pro-food' ethos and develop knowledge and awareness of the integral part that food and a whole school approach plays in children's health, wellbeing and attainment. The focus will be to raise standards and knowledge in staff and pupils in areas such as food growing, nutrition, food safety, shopping, growing food and understanding of where food comes from and the link with environmental sustainability. By making healthy food the norm the service will increase healthy eating behaviours; improve school meals and uptake as well as impacting positively on health and well-being; contributing to better educational attainment and attendance of children and leading to lasting health benefits. The procurement process is being undertaken as a one stage open process in accordance with the Regime for the award of Social and other specific services as defined in Regulation 74 of the Public Contracts Regulations2015.
