Description
The Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) is a key part of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy. It aims to significantly enhance the quality of learning and improvement following patient safety incidents. The work will seek to describe current understanding and practice in relation to the oversight of learning from patient safety incidents and align this with the oversight requirements outlined in PSIRF. Based on this understanding and in collaboration with representative users (e.g., training suppliers and anticipated training attendees) a detailed specification will be produced outlining content to be covered during the required 1-day training programme. The training specification will form part of a procurement framework for suppliers who wish to offer training in incident response oversight to NHS providers. The content will also be used to give more detailed guidance regarding expectations in relation to the oversight of responses to patient safety incidents.
