Description

The Cornish Seaweed Company Ltd (CSC) is looking for a project development coordinator (PDC) to lead the planning phase of a new onshore seaweed processing and cultivation facility. The PDC will be tasked with: 1. providing an optimal design of the seaweed plant and machinery (seaweed processing and drying) 2. producing detailed architectural plans 3. producing detailed service drawings 4. carrying out quantity surveying services to develop construction tender criteria & specs 5. ensuring statutory permissions are in place/applied for 6. producing a costed budget for the facility by creating work specifications and obtaining quotes from potential suppliers/subcontractors 7. filling out and submitting a Good Growth Shared Prosperity Fund application (E22) to build the facility The PCD is expected to carry out the above tasks by subcontracting specialists (for instance engineers, grant writer, architect, builder, food processing specialists) to conduct the relevant aspects of this planning phase. The seaweed facility will contain: 1. a seaweed hatchery, required for offshore seaweed cultivation of native seaweeds 2. a terrestrial seaweed growing unit 3. a food-safe, SALSA/BRC-start accreditation ready, seaweed processing plant to include washing, drying, refrigeration, storage, packing and office space The building should be constructed in a sustainable manner. To include for example: 1. Adequate insulation 2. Use of roof mounted solar panels and batteries to provide power for all aspects of the facility 3. Ground-source heating 4. The use of sustainable building materials where possible The PDC will be assisted throughout the project by CSC Senior Management, with which it is expected to liaise regularly. Selection criteria: The successful candidate will need to have and show: - relevant experience in agricultural/industrial construction - knowledge of sourcing sustainable building materials - relevant knowledge of renewable heat and energy sources - good local professional network of potential subcontractors including electricians, builders, plumbers, engineers, and other relevant suppliers - experience with safe food production and regulations surrounding food safety and food production - demonstrable experience with grant applications - Meet in person at least once/week with CSC management The tender should include any costs that are incurred as part of the entire planning process phase, such as subcontracting of grant writer, architects, builders, electricians, and obtaining quotes
