Description

South East Environmental Services, a company wholly owned by Eastbourne Borough Council requires a supplier to manufacture and distribute food waste caddies to all domestic households within the Borough of Eastbourne, East Sussex. The Resources and Waste Strategy for England was published in 2018 and set out the Government's ambition to improve recycling rates and transition to a Circular Economy. The Environment Act 2021 set into legislation the requirement for local authorities to collect a consistent range of dry recyclable materials and to collect food waste from all households and businesses. Specifically, under the new legislation, waste collection authorities in England must arrange a weekly collection of food waste for recycling or composting from households. Waste collection authorities are required to introduce weekly food waste collections to all households in England, including flats, by 31 March 2026 - unless they need longer to transition due to a long-term waste disposal contract.
