Description
The North York Moors National Park Authority is seeking an experienced and creative interpretation Consultant to work with its Officers and Partners to successfully design, deliver and evaluate an inspirational and cohesive interpretation scheme for the This Exploited Land of Iron project. It is anticipated that the Consultant team will comprise of heritage interpretation specialists with a proven track record of planning, designing and managing the development of bespoke interpretive solutions of the kind proposed in this brief. The Consultant is required to deliver all stages of the interpretation scheme, from draft Interpretation Plan to detailed design, delivery, maintenance plans and evaluation. This Exploited Land of Iron is a community-led Landscape Partnership Scheme, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), the Authority, David Ross Foundation and many other partners. The total Project value is currently 3.8 million GBP and it runs until 31 March 2021. The Scheme focusses on a short but intense period of ironstone mining and railway construction in the remote valleys and hills of the North York Moors that left a huge impact on the landscape and its communities that can still be seen today. The project will record, conserve and protect some of the most iconic structures and landscapes that remain, help nurture the wildlife that has reclaimed these spaces, and ensure this important part of our history is not forgotten.
