Description
United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority is managing a programme of collaborative research and development in decommissioning robotics. This programme is known as LongOps which stands for LONG Term OPerationS using LONG Reach Manipulators. It is addressing three international nuclear operations use cases: • decommissioning in the UK; • decommissioning of the Fukushima Dai-ichi reactors in Japan; and • fusion remote operations. Each of these nuclear end users has a need to develop solutions to conduct work over many decades inside large, shielded spaces which contain hazardous material using remotely controlled 'long reach' slender robotics. This requirement is to analyse training needs and develop a training programme based on the experience of remote handling operations in the UK, which will be delivered to robotics operators of the primary stakeholder of the LongOps programme. However please note the scope of this contract does not include the implementation of training to trainees.
