Description
OFR have been appointment to provide MEP Services for Stage 2-5 on the works taking place at the Corner Plot, Rochdale Station Square. The roles and requirements will include, Scope of Works -Establish the design brief with the Client and confirm the relevant fire safety design objectives for the project. -Confirm any additional design requirements such as insurance. -Highlight any significant constraints arising from the site such as fire service access, boundary conditions, water supplies and crowd dispersal, etc. -Identify where a fire engineered (non-standard) approach could add value by reducing build costs, shortening the construction programme or enhancing the design (e.g. increasing net area, flexibility and functionality). -Expand on the level of detail provided to align with the developing design. Specifically, additional and more detailed advice will be required with regards to the fire safety requirements for MEP services and equipment, fire dampers, penetrations through fire resisting construction, risers, etc. The Fire Engineer to also identify key fire compartmentation interfaces internally and externally. -Develop the detailed fire strategy report, covering and progressing the same key issues, as outlined in the Concept Design stage scope above. -Detailed advice will be required with regards to the fire safety requirements for MEP services and equipment, fire dampers, penetrations through fire resisting construction, risers, etc. OFR to also identify key fire compartmentation interfaces internally and externally. -Attend workshops and technical design meetings and comment on design iterations to meet the demands of the programme. -Attend meetings with the approval's authorities, to discuss the outline proposals with a view of minimising the approvals risk. Also help to drive the Fire Service consultation process at this stage by working with the lead approver to ensure consultation takes place as early as possible. -Review the design documentation produced by others for compatibility with the fire strategy, commenting accordingly, and make all reasonable endeavours to ensure consultants are producing documentation which complies with the Fire Design Strategy Report. This may require the OFR to set up specific fire coordination meetings with the other key consultants (Architect, MEP, Structures, Accessibility, Façade, Vertical Transportation, CDM).
