SSAPR20081 Synapsis NX Upgrade for the SDA

Upgrade to the Synapsis NX navigation system onboard the SDA. The current system has been installed in line with the existing contract (for the design and build of the SDA) between Cammell Laird and UKRI-NERC; however, this will cease to be compliant with class on 31st January 2021. The upgrade will allow navigation maps to be updated in real-time via satellite rather than at port and will also enable the vessel to remain compliant with class and maritime authorities for the foreseeable future. The upgrade can only be supplied by Kongsberg Marine A/S through Cammell Laird Shiprepairers and Shipbuilders as Kongsberg are the OEM responsible for the navigation system and associated software onboard the SDA and have propriety rights to this system.
