Description
To facilitate our newly appointed Public Health Registrars to undertake Masters based qualifications, an essential part of the Specialty Training Programme, which is delivered over 5 years. This will be facilitated by the York University. Essentially, a similar BC was produced for the very same purpose two years ago. This facilitated the issuing of Contract: C304421. This contract was then extended by one year in 2025. However, colleagues in Commercial Contracts have confirmed that there is no clause to allow a further extension. The 1st year of training is spent doing the MPH, supported by experience within a local authority. Without completion of the MPH, the Registrar is unable to complete the remainder of their training, which is a mandatory curriculum requirement (Faculty of Public Health). Once Public Health training is complete, individuals are eligible for specialist registration via the relevant professional body. They can then apply for consultant-level posts in local authorities, the NHS or other settings. This qualification can only be delivered by two HEIs within the YH region - University of Sheffield and York University. The funding is from a cost code already devolved internally. So, no ‘new’ monies are required.
