Description
Wealden District Council sought a suitably qualified and experienced Contractor for the provision of Architecture Services for the preparation of a masterplan and RIBA Stage 2 Concept Design and submission of an associated outline planning application for the regeneration of Hailsham Town Centre. The overall Masterplan is to create an area within Hailsham town centre that comprises of retail, leisure, civic and residential areas. By purchasing the Vicarage Fields site in 2017, the Council is largely in control of the land holdings in the area, providing a large influence on the future development of the town centre. Vicarage field is located in the north east of Hailsham town centre, and currently includes within it; Vicarage Field Shopping Centre, Hailsham Parish Church, Wealden District Council Offices, the Freedom Leisure Centre, The Charles Hunt Centre, and the Hailsham Club, as well as areas of the High Street. The site provides an opportunity for Hailsham to experience an overall improved 'town centre experience' by providing permeability to the town. The project also aims to reduce leakage of the local population away from Hailsham by creating a more attractive and accessible town centre, that retains its local shoppers.
