Description

Birmingham City Council provides a range of accredited and non-accredited programmes at entry level, level 1 and level 2 through the Birmingham Adult Education Service (BAES). The purpose of these programmes is to improve learners' employment prospects and their wellbeing through the development of appropriate skills, health and well-being, and social and community cohesion services. To support BAES's journey to improve teaching, learning and assessment we are looking to engage a company who can provide a team of experienced observers who have specialism in the areas of the provision offered, to carry out observations and joint observations of teaching, learning and assessment on 100% of teaching staff (approx. 250), provide coaching style feedback to tutors and coach style feedback to existing BAES internal observers who take part in joint observations. o Observation schedules will be provided to all observers based on 4 x observations per day, these may include an evening observation o All observations to be graded (35 minutes approximately) followed by a coaching feedback meeting with their observer (45 minutes approximately) o Observers to agree a developmental action plan with the tutors o Observation forms and developmental action plans to be completed electronically. o Observers will be allocated a BAES observer to coach and report on accuracy of grading and reporting. o Observers will be required to engage in supplementary activities to support the development of teaching, learning and assessment, e.g. meetings with teachers, managers and senior managers to discuss key themes and strategies for improvement. o Observers to meet with SMT at end of visit to report summary findings and indicative grade profile. o Observers to provide a written report by email summarising findings and including observation feedback/development plans as an appendix within 5 working days of end of visit.
