Description
The University of Birmingham has contracted for the supply of a spectrum analyser. The frequency range of the RF input should cover 1MHz-25 GHz. A high sensitivity for phase noise measurements is required; when the carrier frequency is 10 GHz, the offset frequency is 1 kHz, the SSB phase noise should be better than -125 dBc(1Hz); when the carrier frequency is 1 GHz, the offset frequency is 10 kHz, the SSB phase noise should be better than -140 dBc(1Hz). The AM noise sensitivity should be better than -145 dBc(1Hz) when the RF input frequency is between 100 MHz and 1 GHz for 1 kHz offset frequency. The measurement speed should be better than 10s when span 1 Hz to 1 MHz with the bandwidth in 10% of offset, better than 0.05s when span 1 kHz to 1 MHz with the bandwidth in 10% of offset. It should be able to measure Allan variance. The measurement range should cover 100ns to 1 000 000s.
