Description
Rother District Council are looking to appoint an architect as lead designer for the renovation and regenreation of the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill, East Sussex. The lead designer will be responsible for: - Conservation works to address all areas of deterioration identified in the condition and structural reports, and surveys. - Building fabric works to improve long term maintenance of the Pavilion. - Development of new environmental systems, working towards net carbon ambitions and to reduce running costs. - Provision of improved access into and around the building for artists and audiences - Repairs and restoration to the South Staircase window, also addressing wider issues with metalwork and windows throughout the site. - Building fabric repairs to the flat roof to address water ingress and resultant corrosion. - Conservation of the entrance canopy, which suffers differential movement at the expansion joint. - Review of external signage, which often suffers breakages. - Restoration of the auditorium. - Providing ancillary services to the auditorium, including cloakroom, WCs and bars. - Upgrading backstage facilities to the auditorium, which are currently inadequate for the status of acts performing there. - Improving visitor flow and entrance routes, particularly from the south terrace, where most visitors arrive from due to Rother District Council's substantial investment in remodelling Bexhill seafront. - Considering gallery reconfiguration to improve visitor flow and identity of galleries. - Developing and maximising commercial operations in Cafe, Bars, Retail and event spaces. - Improvements to the local public realm around the Pavilion and better connection to Bexhill Town Centre. - Development of additional footprint to accommodate desired outputs. - Consideration and use of adjacent buildings to house DLWP facilities This procurement is being conducted via the Architecture and Urbanism Framework Lot 5 Civic, Cultural & Societal Infrastructure. Only suppliers registered on this Lot and expressed are invited to bid.
