Description
Wyre Forest District council is looking to appoint a contactor to carryout essential reroofing works to both long wings of the Shambles and Brass Foundry within Bewdley Museum. Both roofs are showing signs of significant distress with shaling of a large number of tiles and signs of movement to the tiles and flashings. The Buildings are Grade II listed and within a conservation area. Carefully strip existing hand made plain clay tiled roofs including ridge tiles and valley tiles, and set aside sound tiles, ridge and valley tiles for re-use. Remove timber laths and denial rafters. Check all timbers and allow inspection. On instruction replace rotten oak timbers in air dried oak of matching timber size; on instruction replace other rotten softwood timber in tantalised softwood timber to approval and in matching timber size. Check timber lining boards and replace with marine ply or other approved material to same dimensions. The works to the Shambles roof are to be completed by 3rd March 2017 and the works to the brass foundry roof to be completed by 30th April 2017. Any submissions which can not meet the completion date will not be evaluated. The start date for the works is expected to be 9th January 2017. The deadline for submissions to http://procontract.due-north.com is 11:00am Friday 5th August 2016.
