Description
The Service will support Self-Advocacy Networks that are part of the Learning Disability Partnership Board in Lancashire and the development of Self-Advocates and Network members by providing members with learning opportunities in the management and delivery of the Service. The Service will sustain and grow the Self-Advocacy membership utilising networks and contacts to promote independence, a strong voice, and professional representation. This will enable people with learning disabilities to further demonstrate the contribution they can make to the community and raise expectations of what people with learning disabilities can achieve. The Service will provide paid employment opportunities for Self-Advocates with a learning disability to support the Self-Advocacy Networks and associated Partnership Board activity. The Service will support a specific paid developmental role for a Self-Advocate to facilitate new local contacts, opportunities and partnerships to recruit new members, particularly young people and people from BAME backgrounds to the network and work of the board.
