Holmeside from its junction with Waterloo Street to it junction with Vine Place; Brougham Street over its entire length; Waterloo Place from its junction with Brougham Street to it junction with Holmeside; Athenaeum Street from its junction with Waterloo Place to its junction with Waterloo Street and Maritime Street from its junction with Holmeside to its junction with Blandford Street. This ground investigation is aimed at capturing the requirements of the TCF Holmeside gyratory and bus gate scheme. Works will include narrowing Holmeside in places to create one-way flow whilst rationalising loading facilities, creating access to the proposed new multi-storey car park and creating the bus gate on to Vine Place. Works will involve extending Maritime Street through the previous Peacocks site to join into Brougham Street thus creating the new gyratory. The scheme will also feature public realm improvements to Athenaeum Street, Brougham Street and Waterloo Place in conjunction with the Station upgrade works. Scope of Investigation The proposed investigation will comprise the following: • 9 no. hand excavated trial pits • 17 no. in-situ Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) tests (in each trial pit and road core) • 8 no. road cores in the existing carriageway • Geotechnical, chemical, and geo-environmental laboratory testing and classification on recovered soil and groundwater samples - this shall include sufficient testing to identify sulphate levels for the design of buried concrete and classification of clay highlighting shrinkage potential. • 9 no. CBR laboratory testing on recovered soil samples • 9 no. Hand Shear Vane tests • 1 no. Infiltration Tests
