Description

Guildford Borough Council invites Cremator suppliers to submit tenders for contracts for the provision of two new cremators for Guildford Crematorium redevelopment project. The three contracts will cover the following supplies and services: 1. Design work; 2. The supply, installation and commissioning of the new cremators; 3. The support and maintenance of the cremators. Guildford Borough Council has taken a decision to rebuild Guildford Crematorium in its current location to provide fit for purpose facilities for the bereaved and deceased going forward in to the future. The Council has the utmost respect for the deceased and wishes to develop a supportive, reassuring, flexible, value for money and high quality service for the bereaved regardless of culture, background, custom or faith. This is a high profile, complex major project for Guildford Borough Council and is a significant investment in our community. The crematorium first opened in 1967 undertaking some 600 cremations a year, the facilities now undertake in the region of 1800 cremations a year and need to be improved for a changed and ever changing society. Guildford Borough Council is seeking a cremator and mercury abatement plant supplier, who upholds our values and more to partner us and our design team through the development of the new building, to partner the main building contractor in the supply, installation and commissioning of two new dry basis cremators, abatement plant and ancillary facilities. In addition, the Council is seeking a long term partner for maintenance of the plant and equipment to ensure the long term effectiveness and quality of Guildford Crematorium. The Council is a member of the CAMEO scheme. The Council requires the chosen supplier to be fully supportive, cooperative and transparent, and, to comply with the requirements of all relevant legislation, industry best practice and policy, notably DEFRA's Process Guidance Notes 5/2 (2012) and to utilise the principles of Best Available Technology.
