Description
The main objective of this project is to continue the work that Butterfly Conservation (BC) has been doing with us over the past few years to halt and reverse the declines of our most seriously threatened moth species, as a vital contribution towards Bio 2020 outcomes - in particular in avoiding further extinctions in the UK. Several of the moth species being worked on are under very real threat of extinction, many have declined by more than 90% over the past 30 years and the others also need urgent help to reverse similar, very serious declines. This work is through annual monitoring, site advice to landowners and direct management works where required. Butterfly Conservation are the largest UK charity devoted to the conservation of our Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths) and we have been working with them collaboratively in this way for several years already. This new MoA is being established for the purpose of continuing delivery of this project, which as mentioned is a vital contribution towards our Bio 2020 outcomes.
