Description

This project is to develop information, advice and guidance for young people aged 14+ and adults who provide careers advice. It will highlight the wide range of careers available in the heritage sector. The project will not only refer to careers in Historic England but will look at careers across the historic environment sector. There is very little information about historic environment careers. There is nothing available for young people which explains the range of opportunities available, the skills and qualifications needed and the possible pathways to employment. We are looking for an individual or organisation that could develop a set of web pages profiling a wide range of historic environment careers, including short engaging films. This will involve researching roles in the historic environment sector and the skills, qualifications, experience, attitudes and attributes needed. The information must be presented in an engaging style that will be interesting and relevant to a range of young people, many of whom will not have been aware of or considering a career in heritage. The successful applicant will make sure that the materials produced demonstrate that a career in heritage is possible for anyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender or disability. The project should focus on the Historic Environment including archaeology and built heritage. It does not include careers in museums, galleries or collections management but those which fall within the remit of Historic England https://historicengland.org.uk/about/
