Description
National Highways have an ambition to reduce the annual number of casualties killed or seriously injured on the strategic road network (SRN) to zero. Whilst National Highways does not yet have a confirmed target for the upcoming Road Investment Strategy period (RIS3), in its road safety strategy, the government has committed to a 65% reduction in KSIs by 2035 from a 2022-2024 baseline. Road safety analysis is vital for delivering National Highways' road safety targets and for monitoring performance. This task will enable National Highways to build on its existing capability and add reliable and robust STATS19 analysis and reporting. The programme requires the processing of STATS19, firstly snapping collisions to the SRN ahead of public release by DfT, and then interrogating the data to deliver three key reports over the coming months. The first of these will be delivered within 24 hours of the release of the validated STATS19 data by the DfT in either July or September.
