Description

This contract is to support the family and carers of individuals with substance misuse to ensure their physical and mental health and overall wellbeing is improved. Family members receive effective, evidence-based interventions which respond to the need of family members and reduce the effects of drug and alcohol misuse within the family unit and family relationships are improved. This includes protecting children and young people from the harmful effects of drug and alcohol use within families. These outcomes will be achieved through the following measures: Liaison and collaboration with partners across the system to identify and offer support to families affected by drug and alcohol misuse Partnership working with integrated drug and alcohol service to enhance the role that families play in treatment and recovery Structured therapeutic interventions that improve the coping skills and strengthen the family unit, and give families and carers the tools to support their affected family member to engage with drug and alcohol treatment, delivered through structured care plans and a keyworker approach Opportunities and training for volunteering and peer mentoring Unstructured interventions to that offer families the opportunity to receive peer support Support and advocacy to family members of individuals affected by drug and alcohol misuse to enable them to access support services in their own right
