Description
The NHS England Hepatitis C Elimination Programme supports a number of targeted initiatives to find those at highest risk of HCV transmission / infection and, where appropriate, enable them to access curative treatment. The programme is expanding into new settings in an attempt to ensure that anyone who may be at risk of Hepatitis C, or been exposed in the past, is made aware of this and given the opportunity to be tested for the virus. The large employers programme will deliver general liver health education and awareness raising, alongside a routine HCV testing offer, to groups who may not otherwise come into contact with health services and may not be aware of any current or previous risk factors but could be unknowingly harbouring progressive liver disease. This is a pilot to evaluate the benefit of delivering a targeted 'liver health' offer to at least 2 identified large employers within 2 different Operational Delivery Networks (ODNs). The quantitative and qualitative outcomes of the pilot will be evaluated to determine whether NHSE should consider rolling this out as a national programme in 2023/24 (subject to funding approvals and appropriate procurement processes).
