Description
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (the Council) is looking to establish a local energy supply offer, via a Concession Contract with an energy Supplier, to help reduce gas and electricity bills for residents and provide them with a greater level of customer service and fairer treatment to that which they may be receiving from their existing Supplier. The Local Energy Offer will be available to all residents across the Borough and the Council will also commit to the transfer of all void housing stock properties to be automatically switched to the relevant tariff within the offer as and when they become empty. The initial focus of the project will be on providing an offer for domestic energy customers; however the ambition is also to develop an offer for the 7,515 SME's currently in operation in Barnsley as a second phase. The aim of this phase will be to help reduce overheads and increase sustainability of local businesses. This phase will be subject to further development.
