Description
As part of the Sir Henry Royce Institute (SHRI) for Materials, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Sheffield wishes to open tender for a thin film deposition system. The primary function of the system will be to allow the exploration of new materials as either homogeneous single layer films or multilayer stacks. Film thicknesses should be controllable to monolayer levels, such that the system can be used to fabricate ultra-thin films. Initially the system will be targeted at the exploration of high entropy metal alloys, amorphous/crystalline "nanocomposite" metallic coatings for wear and corrosion protection, magnetic thin films and multilayers, and electro-ceramic materials, however we anticipate the system's reach may extend as we make access available to external users through the SHRI.
