****THIS IS AN AWARD NOTICE ONLY NOT A CALL FOR COMPETITION***** Brief Description of Requirement The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) had a requirement for; To test 10 critical clauses from EN 60335-1 and the relevant part 2 covering electrical and fire hazards for a selection of freezers and fridge freezers to verify compliance with the following Regulations (and any amendments to these): • General Product Safety Directive (GPSD) - 2001/95/EC • UK Statutory Instrument 2005 No. 1803 - Consumer Protection The General Product Safety Regulations 2005 The test methods applied should follow harmonised standards EN 60335-1:2012 and EN 60335-2-24 (freezers and fridge freezers) published in the Official Journal of the European Union, or other reliable, accurate and reproducible calculation and measurement methods, which take into account the generally recognised state of the art. The critical clauses, which we required testing for, are: • 30 Resistance to heat and fire • 19 Abnormal operation • 11 Heating • 22 Construction • 8 Protection against access to live parts • 23 Internal wiring • 24 Components • 25 Supply connection and external flexible cords • 28 Screws and connections • 27 Provision for earthing No bids received following a tender process (Reg 32 (2) (a))
